Actor, screenwriter, and martial artist Steven Frederic Seagal (/sl/; born April 10, 1952) hails from the United States. He earned his 7th-dan black belt in aikido and started his professional career as a martial arts trainer in Japan, where he was the first foreigner to own an aikido dojo.[2] Later, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he continued in his line of work.

In the 1988 film Above the Law, Seagal made his acting debut. He has four movie roles by 1991. He portrayed Navy SEAL counterterrorism specialist Casey Ryback in the 1992 film Under Siege. Seagal acted in the direct-to-video movie The Patriot as well as three further feature films in the second part of the 1990s.

His career then mainly consisted of direct-to-video productions. Since then, he has made appearances in movies and reality TV shows, such as Steven Seagal: Lawman, in which he played a reserve deputy sheriff.

Guitarist Steven Seagal has recorded on the soundtracks of several of his films and has released two studio albums, Songs from the Crystal Cave and Mojo Priest. Tony Rebel and Stevie Wonder, who both sang on his debut record, have collaborated with him. He has also worked on an energy drink line and a range of “therapeutic oil” goods.

In addition, Seagal supports the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso and is an environmentalist and animal rights advocate.He has defended Vladimir Putin, referring to him as “one of the great living world leaders” in the past.[6]

In 2016, he received Serbian and Russian[7] citizenship. He was named Russia’s special envoy to the United States in 2018[8].

Numerous women have accused Seagal of se**al harassment and abuse between 1996 and 2018.
